Organic Feeds

Organic feeds tend to have a life of their own. Unlike conventional feeds, they are much more susceptible to seasonality. There are very low stocks on the world market, and as demand grows for organic food in the more affluent sectors, it becomes harder to supply since production struggles to keep up with demand.

Current stocks are fairly tight on most organic straights but, with a bit of forward planning we can get you supplied with your needs well in advance of your actual deliveries. This is the best way of getting what you want because if you rely on the spot market, about the only thing that you can easily access is organic compound feeds. These may be limited to their own forward bought stocks and can be of pretty moderate quality.

Why do more farmers not convert to organic status then?

The regulations defining production practise, are pretty restrictive, and most farmers feel they are doing enough paperwork already without having yet another policing inspectorate threatening them with all sorts of penalties for straying from the path.

I don’t want anyone to think that I am anti-organic, in any way but I do feel that in some areas the registration bodies are guilty of believing their own propaganda a little too much, and not getting their boots dirty quite as much as they should.

Anyway enough of the rant.

Organic straights can be hard to access, we have been talking to the UK’s major importers of these feedstuffs and we are pleased to be able to offer just about the whole range.

Certain feeds are currently very tight until new season, but if you need any of the following list, give us a call and we can get you a quote.

We can also help you find markets for any amount of home grown organic cereal and pulse crops.
